Seattle bound!

First, some sad news. I found out from a friend of mine out east last night that one of her training partners was killed on Sunday evening when she was hit by a motorcycle while out for a run. My heart goes out to the victim and her friends and family. Police were only able to identify her by her name written on her water bottle – please remember to carry I.D.!

On a more positive note, I fly out tomorrow morning for Seattle! Hubs has generously offered me one of his corporate passes to the Maple Leaf Lounge at the Toronto Airport so I will be waiting for my flight in luxury while enjoying a free breakfast.

We have an exciting few days planned with Tall Mom and company, most importantly the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon on Saturday – my 5th marathon!

I can’t wait to meet some of you at our Bloggy Carbo Load Dinner tomorrow night! Check in with Tall Mom for details!

A few of you have asked about my goals for the race. The truth is, I don’t have any except to (hopefully) run with Mel, Amanda and (maybe?) Steph for as long as possible, to remain injury-free and HAVE FUN! Can’t wait to see what race day brings!

  2. so tragic about her running partner. makes me appreciate the ability run (well or not) so much more! GOOD LUCK on No. 5. Sounds like you are all going to have a blast, kinda jealous really. Maybe ya'll will do it next year and I can crash. I LOVE Seattle and have wanted to run that marathon for awhile now! Can't wait to hear all about it.

  6. wow! that is VERY sad and SO tragic about that poor woman!! Obviously, the point of the story is her death but it PISSES me off to no extent that the media always refers to runners as "joggers." i HATE that! give the woman the credit she deserves. she was out for a run, not a jog. UGH, poor lady, SO SAD! :-(best of luck to you in Seattle!!! You are going to have a blast! have fun!!!!

  7. My heart goes out to the runner's family! So tragic. :(Good luck this weekend girl, remember to BELIEVE in yourself and the rest will work itself out. Have a blast and take lots of pics of the meet up!!!

  11. Oh no, that's terrible! I'm sorry to hear about your friend's training partner.I am great about carrying ID with me on the bike, but not so much on the run. I've got a new RoadID coming in the mail though that should alleviate that.Have a great trip and a fun race! I can't wait to hear all about it!
