Boston+ Training – Week 6

Another week in the books! Almost 14 hours of swimming, cycling and running. I’ve decided to start titling these recaps “Boston+” training, since clearly I am not exclusively training for Boston, even if it is by far the most exciting. 🙂

Some highlights:

  • swimming with a new coach and realizing that she has a lot more to offer than the ones we worked with before
  • group speed work for 5 x 1000 on Thursday – fun to push the pace but slightly demoralizing to be running 1000 repeats at my continuous tempo pace from last year
  • 90-minute solo indoor spin on Saturday – much more fun with company! Luckily I have another group brick workout lined up for this coming weekend
  • Running for Sherry on Saturday
  • Winter decided to show up this weekend and made for a 3-hour slow, sloppy, sluggish SLOG of a long run yesterday. It was a character-builder…

  1. Another great week. Congrats on find coaches who can help you out in the proper way.
    Character Builder – bah! It sucked out yesterday. I was a grumpy gus while running but at least it is over.

  2. I love your photos! It really shows how different your workouts are. Another great week in the books.

    We need to see some before and after training shoots. I was talking with some ultra friends who are already knee deep in their racing seasons and commented on how lean they were from all the racing (which is their training). I bet you and hubbs are the same way, lean and race fit already!

  3. We got hit with snow this weekend too and it was not fun trudging through the snow, but thankfully most of it held off till after my run Saturday morning! I don’t know how you do something ever day – well I guess I do but I do enjoy a full day off every once in a while.

  4. You ran 18.1 miles in that snow….way to go! I would never have done that…the difference between one who is running in the Boston and one who just gets happy with 5 on a treadmill. ha! 😉

  5. Your training is amazing! Sorry you had a snowy run on Sunday, but it’s about time you got some of the white stuff! (My lawn has been white, and my street has been icy since November!)

  6. It’s funny…I’m just trying to embrace this Boston training and savor every moment. I feel like, really, the hard work came when I was training to qualify…this is just the icing on the cake! 🙂 You and a few others are really “tempting” me into the water. I tried swimming last year a few times and just couldn’t get in a groove. I might be getting closer to the edge…we’ll see. Keep these posts coming….they inspire me!

  7. You are just bada$$…..but what is this estimating stuff? Get yourself a $20 bike computer at Wal-Mart or target and get that fixed pronto……

    So very sad that these new coaches are banning pool photos b/c that can be the only reason a Despicable Marlene photo did not show up this week.
